So I've set myself a challenge. I'm going to exercise every day for the whole month of February. My main focus will be to do power yoga and running. I figure that way I'll get a good balance of fitness and strength. Plus yoga makes you feel amazing. Win win win! Day zero doing Eoin Finn's blissology project for Tuesday last night. I'll be posting photos daily on Facebook and Instagram! Feel free to join in throughout the month, and let me know how your going.
Namaste.

Shellac on my toes.
I'm forever stubbing my toes and hence ruining my toe nail polish. So today I got out my handy shellac kit and shellacked my toenails. Hopefully it'll stay chip-free now! Wish me luck!

Shellac at home!
So for Christmas I asked Santa to bring me my own shellac kit, and he delivered, a little bit late, but he did deliver!
It's the best present I've ever received! I have six colours. So far I've only used the goegeous "hot chilli" red. It's just so pretty and shiny and flawless.
For those of you who aren't familiar with shellac nails here is the D.L. It's a gellish sort of nail polish, it's high shine and lasts for two weeks without chipping. It's a clumsy girls dream (my dream)
Can't wait to try them all!

Update on my new years resolutions...
1) shopping less is going quite well. I've never really been one to hit the boxing day sales hard, it's all too much of a headache to me. However I did purchase just yesterday a pair of gorgeous shorts from lululemon athletica, they were on sale, and it's nice to look good when you run. It makes you want to run more.
2) I've been doing my very best to eat better. I've filled the house with healthy food. I've been taking my own lunch to work, and just generally trying to be conscious of what I'm getting out of what I eat.
In the name of research I've been having lots of conversations with people about eating healthy. It's very interesting how everyone has a different opinion on food. Personally I think everything in moderation is good. But when I say that I mean you can't just eat some fruit and veggies and think that you'll get everything you need from that. Fruit and veg are always good, but you've got to look at what goodness you're getting out of them. For example I recently was reading about the apple diet. Apparently you just eat apples and the weight just falls right off you. That's all good and well, but how healthy is it for you to eat just apples? How bored would you get of apples? Jinkies. I don't think you would ever want to eat another apple again! I can't believe. How many people actually put themselves through these horrible fad diets. Another one that's been popular of late is the protein diet. Again results are promised and delivered but surely we're not meant to have so much protein in our diets. Surely that is bad for your health! Not only that but you can't be on a diet forever, once you stop you would just be putting that weight straight back on. Defeating the original purpose. I say get the old healthy eating pyramid out from primary school, look at what's on that and go for it! Whole grains, fruit, veg, nuts, legumes, a little dairy and always drink lots of water. That's not to say that you shouldn't get the occasional treat. Just be smarter about your choices, instead of having a bowl of ice-cream for dessert, have a bowl of fresh berries and yogurt. Just as yummy and much better for you. Plus your more likely to continue to eat healthy if you allow yourself to still enjoy your food. That's my two bob anyway...
3) my 2nd resolution sort of feeds into the third. Since improving my diet (and adding in a few pieces of fruit or raw veggies to my afternoon tea time to tide me over until dinner) I've found that I've got heaps more energy when I get home from work. I've been running again, with hopes of participating in a fun run or a half marathon this year. Every day I've been doing a little bit of yoga everyday. I should be doing more. That's my next little fitness goal. I need to improve my upper body strength so I can get back in to doing Aerial acrobatics at circus oz next term. I've found a place where I can set up my Aerial silks so I can practice. Plus it's super fun. It's important to enjoy exercise.
4) now this is the resolution I'm doing the worst at by far. I'm still saving some money but this time of year is so busy, there is so much on and so many fun things to do. Lots of birthdays, lots of babies being born, lots of celebrations, lots of better things to do with your money rather than to put it in to a savings account really. I'm putting some money away when I get paid every fortnight, not as much as I should be, but its a start. Must re-visit my budget soon. Lots of things have changed for me financially (cheaper phone bill, pay rise at work! Woo-hoo) it needs another look.
5) since I declared my new years resolutions I've added one on. It's a pretty simple one but I like it. I want to spend more time outside. I know I'm much happier when I spend more time outside so I thought it best to add it on to my new-years resolutions. As you might have noticed in my previous blog posts I've been doing something called nature appreciation where everyday you go outside, and spend some time enjoying the many wonders of nature. It's beautiful and I suggest you all give it a go. I'll try to post as many of my nature appreciation moments as I can.

Some gorgeous native flowers from the stAndrews market. I spoke to the lady at the market And she was telling me how growing and selling the flowers is their retirement project. I thought it was so sweet, they're so pretty!

Nature Appreciation 17/01/2012
This is something that I learnt on the yoga retreat I did in Bali with the wonderful Eoin Finn, each day find one thing in nature that you appreciate. Just one thing. Of corse if you can find more than one that's great too, but make the effort just to sit back and marvel at something beautiful and natural.
I've been doing it everyday since I've been back from Bali and it really does wonders for your happiness.
Nature appreciation could be anything. Hail stones on the roof, a gorgeous flower, watching a bird making a nest.
This is a photo I took at lake Muwala, what a beautiful day it was! Sunshine, out in a boat watching some very clever people wake boarding.
Enjoy. X

Poncho Party
The wonderful boys from Poncho held a wonderfully wonderful party on Saturday the 7th of January. The night was filled with great music and even better face paint.
Super fabulous Melbourne band Northeast Party House we're amazing as usual. Never have i come across a band with such energy! I highly recommend downloading their EP on iTunes!
British India DJs, and everyone's favourite asshole dross pig made it an even better night. More photos to come soon. X

The big strawberry- Koonoomoo
On our way back from Tocumwal I demanded that we stop at the big strawberry. Not only is there a giant strawberry, but there is a cafe with strawberry everything. I had a delicious Devonshire tea with house made jam, and my boyfriend had strawberry filled crepes with icecream. Yummy!

Camping on new years
I welcomed in the new year with a wine in hand camping by the river in Tocumwal. It was such a beautiful night, the weather was warm and there was nothing to detract from what was around us. There were koalas around us, possums and little lizards, just going about their daily lives. Adding to the resolutions list... Be outside more!
New years resolutions 2012
My resolutions for 2012. They aren't particularly profound or adventurous. They are actually rather boring, but I hunk they are reasonably achieveable I'll let you know how I go!
