Fitness Class Fun!

Yesterday I did the sillyest thing! I'm a member of the bourke st Virgin Active health club, and it's fabulous, it really is the most amazing gym ever. But Ive found that I dont really use all its wonderful facilities as much as I thought I would, they run so so so many classes and to be honest i've been a little bit lazy!

So one of my goals for this year was to go to at least one class a week, and it's been really good. But last night I was running late for my yoga class and just made it in just before it started. It took me half an hour to realise that I was in the wrong class! I went to a pilates class by accident! Oh I feel so silly!

It was very good though and i'm a little bit sore today. I will be back at pilates again soon!

Tonight I'm off to tai chi

DIY #2

How to give yourself a good manicure.

  1. Soak your hands in water for 10 mins or so and rub cutical oil into your nails and cuticles (if you dont have cuticle oil you can use bio oil or failing that paw paw ointment or a hand cream with a high moisurising content)
  2. Cut your nails so as to get rid of all chipped areas and start with a clean slate.
  3. File your nails in to a desirable shape. Personally I like mine slightly squared off.
  4. Rub cutical oil into the cuticals again they should be getting quite soft. And gently push them back down.
  5. Wash your hands to remove excess oil.
  6. Once your hands are dry buff your nails to get rid of your ridges.
  7. Apply a base coat to your nails. Allow then to dry thoroughly.
  8. Apply polish, you should do this in just 3 strokes, one either side of the nail and then one in the middle for a clean finish. Allow this to dry.
  9. Repeat the application of polish again if necessary.
  10. Apply a top coat of polish. This helps stop chipping and makes the colour seem more finished. Allow to dry.

And you have beautiful nails!

The same can be done for your feet for a at home pedicure.

Things every girl should have #3

A well fitted white shirt.

Yet another wardrobe staple! Very versitile, can be worn casual with the sleeves rolled up and paired some ripped denim shorts and strappy sandals. Or it can be worn to work with wide leg 70s flare pants, or a pencil skirt. Or just boots and jeans over winter.

It can be quite challenging to find the perfect white shirt. Ralph Lauren do beautiful shirts that suit lots of people, However I find that on mydelf the cut is not ideal. My favourite shirt that I own is just from MCM Studio Located in the block arcade in Melbourne, just across from Haighs.

They have a great selection of both mens and womens shirts, and they are currently having a sale!

I highly recommend taking a stroll through the arcade.

Things every girl should have #2

A pair of black high heeled boots.

They are another key wardrobe staple that should be in every girls closet.

I love these beautiful christian louboutin boots.

Its worth spending a little more on your boots, and try to keep the style quite simple so they dont date quickly.

Remember to take care of your leather with leather conditioner and some waterproofing spray.

Watch the tips of the heels for wear, its always better to have the tips replaced before they wear right down so as to avoid further damaging the heel.

This seasons favourite shoe!

Block heels! gotta love them! They came through quite a bit in Europe's Spring/Summer runway shows, and probably the most comfortable pair of shoes you will ever wear. I'm loving these beautiful Diane Von Furstenberg shoes. So gorgeous and very versatile.

They are perfect for day wear and you can pair them with maxi skirts as the weather gets a little cooler.

Don't forget the trusty old wedges either for the coming seasons.  I'm loving block colour wedges that are still a little bit girlie like these from Tony Bianco.

Happy Shopping,

Jessica.

Online Shooping #2

Online shopping and vintage are two of my favourite things in the whole wider world! So when the two are combined i'm simply in my element! All the pieces are beautiful and just a little bit different! When my last order arrived i received a hand written note and a lolly as well. Made my day.

I tried to use my not yet perfected interviewing skills to ask Miss Same'old'Chic a few questions about herself and how Same'old'Chic came to be and she answered brilliantly, so see this below, un edited....

Same'old'Chic..

Im a shopaholic! One who doesn't need nor want a cure!!! All who know me personally always say they would love 24hr access to my wardrobes (5 to be exact ;p)! With years of working in fashion I've accumulated a hell alot of treasures and really don't have enough places to wear them to with most items still with tags!!! And so Same'old'Chic was born ♥

What I love most about the pieces i sell is that i handpicked and fell in love with every piece! But what makes each piece more magical is that each item is so different!! It's like they all have different personalities!! There's something for everyone! And i love vintage shopping so most cases it's a one off-which we all heart!

My personal style is very much a "Wear how you Feel" vibe! One day you'll find me in my Sass&Bide boyfriend jeans, knotted up white Ksubi singlet and my green converse sneakers and the next I'll be wearing a Palma turquoise maxi skirt and gold beaded One Teaspoon bodice, then you'll see me that night sipping cocktails in my Lisa Brown silk maxi dress and drenched in Von Treskow jewelry! A different look for my different moods ;)

And you can find  Same'old'Chic on facebook.

Red on Red

I'm loving my red lipstick again at the moment. It was a bit of a challenge to find a red that suits me being a proud redhead and all, but after lots and lots of trial and error I found a red that suits, Hurrah! The trick for red heads is to get a more yellow based red rather than a blue based colour. My favourite is Revlon's Orange Flip, the best colour for a ginger like me.

with an cocktail dress of jeans and a tee. Red is best!

Thanks,

Jess.

Online Shopping part #1

I love online shopping. I love it! Its the best! So much selection, and if you know where to look you can find some of the most beautiful and individual pieces.

However, what I’ve realised is that many people have no idea where to do online shopping and what they should be looking for. So Ive decided to break up this entry into several little snippets on online shopping fun.

For part one I thought we should start off pretty basic with the UK's www.asos.com an oldie but a goodie, I'm a frequent visitor of asos. In fact I just got my last order with some gorgeous new dresses for work and some gorgeous leaf and feather jewellery.

Asos sell both mens, women’s, and children’s clothing, bags, shoes, and accessories. They rage from selling their own brand which is great quality and very on-trend to designer brands. If you sign up to the website they send you emails letting you know about offers that they have on, and they do have some very good offers! Keep an eye out for free postage worldwide! They also send you a little digital mini-mag which is great for inspiration.

I really like the layout of the website, there are so many different search options to choose from. I often search by colour and type. eg. I'll search for a beige, cream, stone, or white dress, and it will show me literally hundreds of search results ranging from around $40AUD up to around $600AUD. The selection is amazing.

But be careful! Once you start you can't stop!

Happy Shopping!

A classic trench coat!

They go well over nearly everything,

Great paired with jeans or over a dress, its the best trans-seasonal piece and will never date if you buy a classic cut and keep it simple.
